I love my secret pal already! I’m loving getting comments and I can tell she’s a great person with lots of enthusiasm. It’s infectious and it’s definitely going to motivate me to post more often. I guess I’ve got a lot of knitting to do if I’m going to keep this interesting!
It looks like I might be going to the west coast of the island this weekend to check out the whale festival, so I should get some knitting time in the car. It’s about 3 hours each way. The whale festival goes on for a couple of weeks every spring during the northern migration of about 22,000 grey whales. Because they feed during this time, they travel close to shore in shallow areas and can be seen from shore without having to go out in boats. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get any good pictures, but I’ll definitely try. Hopefully it’s not completely foggy and rainy like it has been around here.

I’m so jealous! I’ve always wanted to see whales. I’ll give you a hint about where I live… the biggest sea creature we have around this parts is also called a “sea cow”. They’re not as big as whales, and they’re about seventy thousand times more ugly! But I love them, they are gentle and sweet. Think you might know where I’m from…? 🙂
Okay, I have to admit I had to do a little googling to figure it out. You must be from Florida! Are there really no whales around there? I just assumed there would be wherever there’s ocean. Well, I can tell you I’m sure jealous of your weather 🙂 Especially this time of year. We’re dying for some sun and warm temperatures here!
I didn’t actually make it to the whale festival, but it is my mission this year to see some whales. I’ll be making my way to Telegraph Cove this summer to paddle with the Orcas. They’re my favourite.
We do not have a lot of whales, no. Shamu? At Sea World? That’s about it. :-p Seriously, though, there are some that swim by but I think most of our coastal waters are too shallow. Most times you hear about whales in Florida, “stranded on the beach” is usually in the same sentence.
And since it’s already hitting the high 80’s where I am, I will be *happy* to send you some hot weather!
OMG, the high 80’s already? Sooo jealous! I’ve never been to Florida, but if it’s anything like Cuba’s weather (and I imagine it’s the same) it is the perfect climate for me! One of my friends says I’m like a lizard, I like to hang out on hot rocks in the sun! What can I say? Where I grew up (southwestern Ontario) it was hot and humid all summer. Here in BC it almost never gets that way.
